Evangelism/Mission Ministry

Mission Ministry

The purpose of the Goessel Church is to “Develop Fully Committed Followers to the Lord Jesus Christ” who is the gospel {good news} of the living God.

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers … 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.[1]

The mission of the Goessel Church is the development of disciples.  This begins with people getting saved through the forgiveness of sin that comes only through the cleansing that comes from the blood of Jesus Christ {Eph. 1:7}.[2]  This central to the instructions of Jesus to His disciples {Mt. 28:18-20}.[3]  Our intent is to instruct new believers in the ways of the kingdom of God, that they too will share this salvation message with others, and teach them in His ways.

The church is instructed to proclaim this salvation message to all who will hear {1 Cor. 15:3-4}.[1]  The Goessel Church choses to hold tightly to the gospel message and proclaim it in contemporary ways.  God chooses to be patient with His return that all who would, will be saved {2 Peter 3:9}.[2]

Reaching people for the Lord is one of the most exciting parts of discipleship.  We get to meet people we don’t normally encounter on a daily or even weekly basis.  Events like the July 4th Celebration or Trunk and Treat provide unique opportunities for us to begin to build relationship with our neighbors.

In addition, we also have opportunities to support other ministries such as the Heartland Pregnancy Centers {Heartland Pregnancy Care & Family Life Services – Newton, KS – Home (heartlandpcc.com)} located in Newton, KS., the New Jerusalem Ministries {About Us | newjerusalemmissions }, Samaritan’s Operation Christmas Child {The Greatest Journey Discipleship Program (samaritanspurse.org) } and our local Bethesda Retirement Home {Bethesda Home – Bethesda Home & Retirement Center} which the Goessel Church has support since the church was founded.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version

[1] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

[1] 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

[1] For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

[1] The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance
