Service Ministry
Galatians 6…
1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load. [1]
Serving others is a significant gospel ministry. The first thing that service accomplishes, it demonstrates the heart of the Father. To come alongside another who has a burden too heavy to bear along, shows the Father’s heart.
The scriptures go on to instruct us in this…
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.[2]

Ways we can and a few ways we are serving…
Ways we can and a few ways we are serving…
- Funeral dinners
- Mowing a lawn, shoveling snow from a driveway, or fixing a door for another
- Maintaining the church property
- Helping clean up another’s property after a disaster
- Preparing and taking a meal to another in distress
- Sending a card to encourage
- Partnering with other local organizations to care for others
Service helps each of us because someone is helping us, encouraging us and we are doing the same for others. “It is more blessed to give than receive” {Acts 20:35}.[1] But sometime we need to be encouraged and helped that we can encourage and help others.
35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
