Goessel Church

The Goessel Church is located in the small, rural community of Goessel, Kansas. We are a growing and dynamic church of Jesus Christ where people love each other. If you are looking for a church home where the gospel is preached and the Bible is honored as God’s inspired Word, we invite you to make Goessel Church your home.

Who We Are and What We Believe

The Goessel Church was founded in 1919 as the Goessel Mennonite Church, as part of a strong Mennonite community in the Goessel area.  The congregation held its first business meeting in June 1919 to discuss the building of a place to worship.  For more than 100 years, this congregation was a part of the General Conference of the Mennonite Church which is now the Mennonite Church USA.  The congregation withdrew from the conference and denomination in May 2021 and removed Mennonite from the name.

Goessel Church members base their beliefs on the Holy Bible, God’s Word.  It doesn’t matter which version or translation of the Bible one prefers (KJV, NASB, NKJV, NIV, ESV or most any other standard translation), the Salvation Story is the account of God, who after creating a sinless humanity, seeks to redeem this fallen humanity {John 3:16}. As the redeemed of the Lord Jesus Christ, we {His church} are first and foremost worshipers of the Almighty God.  The scriptures that state this are too numerous to list, but Ps. 22:27 says:

27 “All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.”

John 3:16 helps us understand why:

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
